Definition

Compensatory damages for intangible harms not easily quantifiable. Includes pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, loss of consortium. Also called general damages. No objective measure - jury determines appropriate amount based on nature and extent of harm.
